Core Features

Project-Based Download provides a complete organized download workflow

Pre-Download Scanning

Scan your Grok favorites before downloading. See total counts for images, SD videos, and HD videos with detailed breakdowns.

Smart Auto-Grouping

Automatically organizes files into project folders by creation date and generation prompt. No manual sorting needed.

Metadata JSON Export

Each project includes a metadata.json file with generation prompts, timestamps, and file details for future reference.

Download Statistics

Track download progress with real-time stats. See completed, failed, and remaining items at a glance.

How Project Download Works

Four simple steps to organize and download your entire Grok library

1

Scan Your Media

Click 'Scan' to analyze your Grok favorites. The extension counts all images and videos available for download.

2

Preview & Configure

Review the scan results showing image count, video count, and estimated download size. Choose what to include.

3

Create Project

Give your project a name. Files will be auto-organized into folders by date (e.g., 2024-03-15/) with prompt-based subfolders.

4

Download Everything

Start the batch download. Files are saved in organized project folders with metadata.json for each group.

Technical Highlights

Hierarchical Folder Structure

Creates nested folders: Project Name / Date / Prompt Group, keeping thousands of files perfectly organized.

Metadata Preservation

Every download group includes a JSON file with the original Grok prompt, timestamps, and file checksums.

Concurrent Downloads

Uses Chrome's download API with smart concurrency control to maximize speed without overwhelming the browser.

Resume Support

If a download is interrupted, the extension tracks progress and can resume from where it left off.

Date + Prompt Naming

Folders are named with the format {date}_{prompt}, making it easy to find any project by when it was created or what it contains.

Source + Videos Grouped

Original source images and all generated video variations (SD, HD) live in the same folder, so you always know which image produced which videos.

metadata.json Included

Each project folder includes a JSON file with the full Grok API data: original prompts, generation timestamps, file checksums, and model parameters.

Text-to-Video Support

Projects generated from text prompts (no source image) are handled gracefully โ€” the folder contains only the video files and metadata.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about Project Download

What is Project Download?

Project Download is a PRO feature that lets you download all media from an entire Grok project in one operation. A Grok "project" is a collection of related conversations, generated images, and videos grouped under a single project in your Grok workspace. Instead of downloading items individually, Project Download fetches everything at once and organizes it locally.

What content is included in a project download?

A project download includes all images and videos generated within that project. Files are organized by conversation or generation batch so the structure of your Grok project is reflected in the downloaded folder.

How do I start a project download?

Navigate to your Grok project page, open the GrokMediaDownloader extension, and click "Download Project." The extension scans the project for all media assets, presents you with a summary, and begins downloading once you confirm.

Does Project Download preserve the original file names?

Yes. Project Download retains the original file names assigned by Grok wherever available. When original names are not available, files are named systematically using the project name, generation date, and a sequential index to ensure each file is uniquely identifiable.

What happens if a download is interrupted?

Project Download tracks progress locally. If a download is interrupted โ€” due to a network error or browser closing โ€” you can resume it by reopening the extension on the same project page. Already-downloaded files are skipped, so only the remaining files are fetched.

Can I download multiple Grok projects at once?

Currently, Project Download processes one project at a time. You can start a download for one project, then switch to another project page and start another download. Each download runs independently and does not block the other.

Is Project Download available in the free version?

Project Download is a PRO-exclusive feature. Upgrade to GrokMediaDownloader PRO for $4.99 (lifetime license) to unlock Project Download along with Stream Capture, Video Gen Queue, and Story Mode.
