This Privacy Policy explains how Kario LLC ("we", "us", or "our") handles information in connection with the GrokMediaDownloader Chrome extension ("the Extension") and the marketing website at grokmedia.kario-studio.com ("the Website"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our practices.

1. Information We Collect

Within the Extension: GrokMediaDownloader is a 100% client-side tool. We do not collect, transmit, or store any personal data on external servers. The Extension does not collect your name, email address, or any other personally identifiable information. There is no analytics, telemetry, or tracking code within the Extension itself. All media processing -- including downloads, video merging via FFmpeg WebAssembly, and stream capture -- happens entirely within your browser on your local device.

On the Website: Our marketing website uses Google Analytics 4 (GA4) for standard website traffic analysis, such as page views, referral sources, and general usage patterns. GA4 may use cookies to collect anonymized, aggregated data. This analytics data is entirely separate from the Extension and does not identify individual users. No personal information is collected through the Website beyond what GA4 provides in its standard configuration.

2. How We Use Information

Since the Extension does not collect any data, there is no user data to use, share, or sell. Within the Extension, all operations are performed locally, and no information is sent to our servers or any third-party servers.

The aggregated, anonymized analytics data from the marketing website is used solely to understand general traffic patterns and improve the website experience. We do not use this data to identify, contact, or target individual users.

3. Data Storage

All data generated by the Extension -- including download history, queue data, user preferences, and temporary video blobs -- is stored locally on your device using Chrome's built-in storage APIs (chrome.storage.local) and IndexedDB. This data never leaves your device and is not accessible to us or any third party.

You have full control over your local data at all times. You can export, import, or clear your data using the Extension's built-in Data Management feature. All local data is also automatically removed when you uninstall the Extension.

4. Third-Party Services

Payment Processing: PRO license purchases are handled by LemonSqueezy, a third-party payment processor. When you purchase a license, your payment information (such as credit card details) is collected and processed directly by LemonSqueezy in accordance with their own privacy policy. Kario LLC does not directly access, store, or process your credit card information. We only receive the minimal information necessary for license verification, such as the license key and order status.

Google Analytics: The marketing website (not the Extension) uses Google Analytics 4 for traffic analysis. You can opt out of Google Analytics by using browser extensions such as the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on or by adjusting your browser's cookie settings.

5. Chrome Extension Permissions

The Extension requests only the minimum permissions required for its core functionality. Here is what each permission is used for:

  • activeTab -- Allows the Extension to interact with the current Grok page you are viewing, to detect and list available media.
  • storage -- Used to save your download history, extension settings, and queue data locally on your device.
  • downloads -- Enables the Extension to save media files to your computer's local file system.
  • sidePanel -- Powers the Video Studio and Queue user interface displayed in Chrome's side panel.
  • offscreen -- Allows FFmpeg WebAssembly video processing to run in a background document for performance.
  • Host permission (*://grok.com/*) -- Restricts the Extension to operate only on the grok.com domain. The Extension does not run on or access any other websites.

The Extension does not set any cookies. No data collected through these permissions is transmitted externally.

6. Data Security

Because the Extension operates entirely on your local device and does not transmit any data to external servers, the risk of data breach through the Extension is effectively eliminated. Your media files, download history, and settings remain solely on your device under your control. We do not operate any servers that store user data from the Extension.

7. Children's Privacy

The Extension is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children. Since the Extension does not collect personal information from any user, there is no risk of inadvertently collecting data from minors.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal and regulatory reasons. When we make significant changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page and may notify users through extension updates. Your continued use of the Extension or Website after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
